Matt A, No Team

2009 Breakdown
Matt Started the year a little late and began to come more and more as the year continued.  We hope to see him as much as possible this year. In his rookie campaign he batted .297 with a HR in 77 at bats and 12 games.  Int he field he was solid for a first year guy just getting the hang of things.  On the mound he started 3 games going 1-2 including a heartbreaking loss in the 6th to Cody 5-3.

2009 High Point

Winning his first game against his brother "New Tom" 13-6 avenging an 18-17 loss in his first time around.

2009 Low Point

Lost a game in the bottom of the 6th to Cody 5-3 to go to 1-2 on the year.

Playoff Chase

With a late start and the season heading towards the end Matt was not in the playoff hunt.

2010 Outlook

If Matt will be around a lot more in 2010 he should be a solid player.  He has potential to hit .300.  He has a decent swing for contact and with a year under his belt he should have much improvement this year over last year.  On the mound he will probally be in a lot of games but may struggle at first. If he can learn pitches and stay with it he could win 5-8 games this year.  Look for him to continue to be solid in the field.

Hot Stove Interview with Matt A.

HS: Between you, Tom, and Colin, you had the best stats at the plate, batting .297 with a home run in 12 games. This is a great start for a rookie. Do you feel confident in continuing your success at the plate in 2010?

Matt: I think as long as I can come to games and get more at-bats, I can improve. Like any rookie, I needed time to get acclimated to the game, but my play improved as the season went on. I'm definitely looking forward to next season.

2. Are you going to focus on your pitching at all in 2010 and try to make the playoffs?

Yes, I would like to continue pitching next season. I lost more games than I won, but I lost those games in the last inning. I think the key for me is to be able to place my pitches and throw strikes consistently, especially in clutch situations.

3. Is there anything you would like to say to the league or player for the upcoming season? Maybe an opening day Challenge?

I want rematches against Tom and Steve. Those are the two people I lost to, if I'm not mistaken.
