"New Tom", No Team

2009 Breakdown

Like his brother Tom was a late bloomer to the year but a nice addition.  He did in his short time and limited action pick up 2 wins against only 1 loss. He managed to get one of those wins against playoff bound Cody late in the year.  In the field he was like most new guys, it takes some time and adjustment to get used to things. I think that Tom was doing just that. At the plate he did do ok having a .278 average. That is 3 pts above the league average. Unfortunately Tom didnt break through in the HR department.

2009 High Point

Pick up his first win in his first game against his brother Matt. He also blanked playoff bound Cody 10-0 late in the season.

2009 Low Point

Not hitting any HR's.

Playoff Chase

He did not get enough starts to qualify.

2010 Outlook Look

Tom had a nice start to his HRL career. I think that if we can see him come around more and more we will all see the potential he has.  If he can learn a few locations to some of his pitches he should be able to drop the high ERA and pick up some wins.  I think we could see 4-8 wins and maybe be int he "Playoff Hunt."  At the plate he should be a .260-.290 hitter. If he can keep his head in the box and eye on the ball he should be able to break through with that coveted 1st HR!

Hot Stove Interview with "New Tom"

HS:Did you enjoy your first year at HRL? What were some things you liked about it?

Tom: I really enjoyed my first year at HRL. This was my first time playing wiffleball so I had to learn the game. I think that I improved through the course of the season. I liked the organization of the league through the detailed stats and updated website.

HS: Do you have any goals for 2010?

Tom: I have a few goals for 2010. I want to play more, bat over .300 and win some more games pitching.

HS:  Is there anything you would like to say to the league or player for the upcoming season? Maybe an opening day Challenge?

Tom: Yes I would. I'd like to say that I'm going to get more hits and hit for a better average than both Colin and my brother.
